Dear Holistic Health & Natural Healing Friends,
A yoga student of mine, whom I've taught for several years, always sits in Sukhasana ~Easy Pose~ rather than Padmasana ~Lotus Pose~. I've encouraged him many times, in a variety of ways, to try Padmasana. We've even put him in Padmasana momentarily, but then he quickly pops out, regardless of props, support, meditations, and visualizations.
My student finally took the full leap of faith last nite and really wanted to hold Padmasana! He then shared that since he's been practicing yoga--30 years!--he hadn't believed his body would be able to go into Padmasana. However, through our Pranayama (breathwork) & deep meditations on letting go/expansion/going beyond, he decided to trust and fully let go.
Amazingly, my student's left knee, which was approximately 10 inches off the ground when he first sat in Padmasana...within 10 mins of active breathwork, trust mantras, and deep focus...his hip fully released and legs were flush.
I've been teaching yoga for 15 years and have seen great physical, emotional, mental, spiritual, and life changes in my students. However, this was a rare gift!
Which just goes to show the profound power of healing that occurs when we let go of what we no longer need and embrace our wholest, deepest, most joyous selves.
Truly warms the cockles of a yoga teacher's heart!
